How to run Virtual PC 2007 SP1 on Windows 7

Windows Virtual PC, the successor to Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 SP1 despite the many new features at this time does not meet the requirements of multiple users (in large part from the need to have hardware support for virtualization). In my case the problem is the different size of the virtual machine files, which are cumbersome when working with virtual machines associated with different courses and presentations.

The effect of booting Virtual PC 2007 SP1 on Windows 7 is the message "This program is blocked due to compatibility issues".

Methods for the successful execution of VPC 2007:

  • Installing and running in compatibility mode with Windows Vista (my tests indicate that only works if you are running 64-bit)
